Ukrainian-Romanian Fair of Ideas took place on the 24th of November in Ivano-Frankivsk within the frames of International investment and economic forum “Partnership and Perspectives”.

Within the Fair the final round of the debates under the topic “The State should encourage innovations for saving non-renewable types of energy and resources” occurred.  The participants of the debates were Ukrainian and Romanian students and post-graduates who are the best speakers of the semi-final rounds that took place in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) and Baia Mare (Romania). 

Students addressed two alternative topics for discussion: opportunities offered by the European Union to the member states for the development of the energy-saving technologies - on one hand, and market opportunities of energy saving technologies that do not need the regulatory state interventions in the sphere of energy saving - on another hand.

In parallel with the debates the demonstration of innovations, research projects and training programs in energy saving and energy management fields by the universities Ivano-Frankivsk region and Maramures county was organized together with the exhibition of the eco-tourism and traditional crafts elements of the border regions of Ukraine and Romania. The Fair allowed exchanging ideas, plans and establishing new contacts between representatives of the four sectors of the border Carpathian Euroregion of Ukraine and Romania: students, business representatives, local authorities, public and media. As the result, Ukrainian and Romanian students have signed a declaration on the establishment of the International Debate Club within NGO "Agency for development of private initiative."

Ukrainian-Romanian Fair of Ideas, the final event of the project “Saving Energy – Saving Future” that is being implemented in Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine and Maramures county of Romania by Public organization “Agency for Private Initiative Development” (Ivano-Frankivsk region) and “Ecologic” Association (Maramures county) financed by the European Union of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.
