Representatives of Ivano-Frankivsk region have visited the Maramures county (Romania)

Representatives from business, government, public, experts in the sphere of energy saving and, of course, the best speakers of Debate Tournament (which took place on May 17-18, 2011) had an opportunity to visit Maramures County (Romania) and familiarize with objects that efficiently use energy-saving technologies.

The study tour event was planned in order they gain practical knowledge and get acquainted with specific objects (model cases) in Maramures County (Romania) where resources and energy saving technologies were or are being implemented. The goal also was to initiate the future cooperation between the Ukrainian and Romanian counterparts in this sector and in particular between business representatives and students.

One of the most successful examples of energy saving technology turned a hotel complex «Popasul din deal» in Ocna Sugatag. It is belongs to Romanian entrepreneurs Pop Vasileu. In 2007 he decided to engage a tourist activities and build a welcoming house. The entrepreneur was farsighted and built a building in the newest technologies. He was the first in the city who established two heat pumps and 30 solar panels later. The entrepreneur says that it was expensively enough, but it's worth: received energy is enough for heating, hot water, kitchen, swimming pool. No wood, no gas is not required, no need to employ a stoker, and is also safe for environment. A considerable support in hotel building provided the Romanian government and European Union.

Visitors are also learned the experience of sun energy and heat, thermal insulation of apartment buildings, manufacturing briquettes from waste furniture production, operation of mini-hydropower system for purifying water with oxygen without the use of traditional energy sources on the farm for breeding trout.

Students and tour participants get practical knowledge in energy saving sphere. This will help them make their speech at the final debate more meaningful and interesting.
