The project “Debate youth line” have been finished

The goal of the project was to encourage youth debate initiatives and networks across the border covering Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg of Hungary and Maramures county of Romania.
The results of the project:
The Memorandum of Cooperation within the International Carpathian Youth Debate Association was signed, whichregulates the activity of the Association.
The strategy of the Association was prepared, which defined the basic principles of the development of the debate movment in the regions, where the Association acts: Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg of Hungary and Maramures county of Romania.
Under the aegis of the Association 31 dabate schools were created (350 students and pupils), which spread the culture of tolerant discussion in the communities of the three regions.
The events of the project:
April – september 2014, 9 workshops were held in each region of the project, about the bases of debating, for the pupils, students and professors (206 participants).
May 2014, Cross-border Debate Study Session was held in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine (55 participants) which provided the leaders of the debate clubs, the teachers of schools and universities from Hungary, Romania and Ukraine with motivation and new knowledge.
October – November 2014 Three Regional (qualifying) Debate Tournaments were held in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine), Repedya (Romania) and Nyíregyháza (Hungary) (152 participants). More than 10 topics about social and economic issues had been discussed.
November 2014 the Carpathian International Debate Tournament was held in Bia-Mare (Romania). (54 participants, 24 debaters). The pupils and students from the three different countires debated in mixed teams, tested their diplomatic and linguistic skills and deepened the friendship among the countries. The theme of the final round became the „Employment of the women in the society”.
February 2015, Nyiregyháza, Hungary the Thematic Debate Shows was held (130 participants) where the problem of labour-related emigration of the youth was publicly discussed, which is an equally burning problem for all the three cross-border countries. The best speakers demostrted their knowledge, arguing skills, and tolerance before an audiance of 100 persons.
The promotion and further development of the debate clubs:
- Multilingual study guides about debating;
- E-library for the assisstance of the debaters;
- Multilingual map of the debate clubs, placards and leaflets.
